Normally note taking applications focus on absolute simplicity; consequently they leave out formatting and customization options.

Wrttn is a free note taking web application that provides a number of formatting and customization options without cluttering the interface with excessive buttons.

If users want a word to appear in bold, they type it between asterisks like *aclJohn*.

Controls for underlining, italics, and other formatting options are provided on the website.

Another notable feature of Wrttn is that users can embed videos from YouTube and other websites in their notes.

For each note...

  • a unique "Public URL" is generated that users can share with colleagues, learners etc.(this is my first effort http://wrttn.in/66db86)
  • an "Admin URL" is generated that users can use to edit the note.
  • a code is generated that users can use to embed the note on a blog or website or VLE etc.
