The one thing I like about 'New Browsers' is tabs. Taking cue from web browsers, developers have started embracing the “tab culture” and now we often see tabs in various applications.

For me, I would have liked to have seen them in Microsoft Office. It’s frustrating to be not able to open documents in tabs.

Wait no longer! OfficeTab, a free utility, fills this gap.

OfficeTab enables users to open multiple documents within one office window without cramming up your taskbar.

With OfficeTab users can choose which Office applications they want tabs on -

  • Word or
  • Excel or
  • PowerPoint or
  • all of them.

If users right click on the tabs a small menu appears with options like...

  • Lock Document (to prevent accidental closing),
  • Close and
  • Close All, etc.

There are plenty of options in the settings window that allows users to change the behavior and appearance of the tabs...

  • tab switching,
  • double-click to close,
  • hiding tab-bar when a single document is open and so on.

OfficeTab is compatible with...

  • Office 2003 and
  • Office 2007

...on Windows...

  • XP,
  • Vista and
  • Windows 7.
