Open Heart

Posted by John Dalziel on Sunday, June 20, 2010 In : Medicine

With Open Heart, learners can perform, among other things, heart surgery, and learn a lot about how the heart works in the process.

Open Heart has lots of interactive components to help teach about the structure and function of the heart. Learners can...

OE-CAKE

Posted by John Dalziel on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 In : Physics

OE-CAKE acts as a physics-based paint program.

Users can insert objects and see them interact under the laws of physics.

OE-CAKE has an advanced fluid simulator with support for things such as...

  • gases;
  • rigid objects; and
  • elastic materials.

As usual, before I include anything in a blog/podcast/eMagazine etc., I've had a play and found it both intuitive (in part perhaps, because I taught Physics in the past) and impressive.

It is an ideal tool for use on an interactive white bo...

Posted by John Dalziel on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 In : Weather

If you are a 'typical British' person, then weather is something we all talk about. You may well have the latest weather displayed...

  • on your phone;
  • on your computer’s desktop; and/or even
  • on the sidebar of your blog.

You may well check the weather...

  • before heading out to work ;
  • before heading back home; and
  • before heading out at the weekend.

Weather applications usually consist of little more than text featuring the latest temperature, barometric pressure readings and maybe a fore...
