is a free tool for keeping dated, independently verified copies of license conditions associated with creative commons images.
can be used to safeguard your use of free images from license changes, or to prove you are the original image creator.

Currently the service works with images hosted on Flickr, but we are assured ImageStamper will soon add support for images hosted on deviantART and a number of other image-sharing websites.

YouTube:XL

YouTube XL is a modified version of YouTube designed to use on...

large-screen televisions; and

on Interactive Whiteboards (IWBs).

The interface makes it simpler to use by cutting out a lot of the clutter on the page.

Note: Theres no way of hyperlinking to a specific video, but users can add to their Favourites, which can then be accessed under the Favourites tab on the main YouTube XL screen.

When I accessed YouTube XL I was logged into my YouTube account; my clips were automatically added to the player.

QuieTube or SilenTube: Video without the distractions

QuieTube and SilenTube provide users buttons which they can drag to their toolbar.

When they see a YouTube video they want to use in resources/VLE/etc., they can click the button and they’ll get a URL which will let them, and/or their learners, watch just the video.

Users can embed these links into IWB pages to go straight to the video page.

Allowing broad noncommercial use of otherwise protected material significantly expands the pool of resources faculty and learners can use in teaching and learning. Knowing quickly and easily whether a piece of content can be distributed, modified, or remixed fits well with the teaching style of many practitioners—they want to be able to search for up-to-the-minute artifacts and include them in lectures and learning materials, without having to worry about obtaining permission.

On June 2nd 2011, YouTube announced that they are now offering video creators the option to label their works with Creative Commons licenses. If educators choose to use Creative Commons licensing, people will be able to use parts of their videos and create remixes according to the Creative Commons rules. This means that practitioners and/or learners who want to create videos now have more options than before.

RadioLovers is an archive of old radio shows from the pre-TV days. Bob Hope, Groucho Marx, and Laurel and Hardy are just a few among the classic voices kept alive at this site; free downloads of the files are available for download in MP3 format, featuring comedies, mysteries, science fiction, and even music programs.

An interesting resource for media literacy...

showing how entertainment has often been commercialized. The first few minutes of some of these programs are used to showcase the show's sponsors. Parallels to the use of product placement in various films and TV shows these days.

for podcasting, these old radio shows are valuable for learning about...
- pacing of story;
- voice inflection; and
- the use of sound effects.

providing a glimpse of entertainment from times when writing, sound effects, and voice were the prevailing means for delivering stories to large audiences.

On the issue of copyrights, the RadioLovers website discloses that it believes the radio shows are now in the public domain and no longer protected. I'm not sure that would hold up in a court of law.
