American Revolution;
US Civil War; and
US Pacific Campaign in WWII.

In each of these animations visitors will see the animated movement of armies displayed on a map. Each animation is accompanied by captions describing the strategies of the armies as well as the results and consequences of each battle.

All of the animations on History Animated are available for free viewing on the website.

History Animated is an excellent resource for History practitioners who find that the animations are a significant improvement over drawing or pointing to places on a map.

To me, the preview of the Battle of Britain that will, when it is up and running, appear on the New Website, called - WWIIAnimated.com is the jewel in the crown.

Harvest of History is a website produced by the Farmers' Museum in Cooperstown, New York, USA.

Harvest of History is designed to help learners and practitioners explore the origins and development of modern farming practices. Its design is ideal for Family Learning Practitioners but some of the content of Harvest of History could also be used with older learners to spark discussion about the development of modern agriculture.

What happened in my birth year? is a new website by Philipp Lenssen that tells you what events took place globally on a particular year, in an elegant manner.

Simply type in a year and watch as a reverse countdown from 2010 begins. The screen slowly dims to black as the number starts dropping giving you the impression of going back in time.

Then the information starts appearing, one character at a time as if someone is typing it out for you. It looks good. If you want it to appear quickly, refresh the page and select cancel from the dialog box that appears. All the data will then be available.

Maps of War's animated maps are a great visual aid for learners. The timeline that accompanies each map make the maps a great resource for showing changes over time. As the maps change the timelines change accordingly.

Archaeology - Interactive Dig

Many learners don’t get to experience hands-on aspects of history and/or archaeology. Using a mouse isn’t exactly hands-on but by clicking to Interactive Dig: El Carrizal from Archaeology Magazine, learners can see photographic updates and read first-hand accounts of this "in-progress" archaeological project.

By seeing professionals in action practitioners can encourage learners to think like historians themselves and hopefully it will excite learners about history and archeology.

Conflict History

ConflictHistory is a mash up that combines a timeline of world wars with their geographical location, and presents all data on Google Maps.

The timeline starts from 3000 BC and covers conflicts up to 2005.

Users can view data for any period by simply adjusting a timeline that runs along the bottom of the map. The conflicts are marked with red markers and also listed in the floating menu.

Kseniya Simonova – Sand Animation

Kseniya Simonova (born 1985) is a sand animator from Ukraine. She was the 2009 Winner of Ukraine's Got Talent, constructing an animation that portrayed life during Ukraine's Great Patriotic War against the Germans in World War II.
