Communication is essential on all training courses and getting to grips with technical terms and their meanings can be a major hurdle.

Make-Up USA's website provides a useful resource for 'hair and beauty' learners; in the skincare FAQ's, Vocabulary & Product Ingredients section learners can look up new words and check to find a definition for them.

They can also click, when on the website, on the words to the left of the screen and they will find images of the kinds of products included in video clips, tutorials etc.

A new batch of hairdressing resources are now freely available online. These are high quality videos that demonstrate popular hairdressing techniques, such as...

cutting,
straightening, and
also cover areas such as client consultation and health and safety.

They have been developed by Worcester College and have now been shared on the web for others to use.

If your organization delivers hairdressing training, and have a virtual learning environment, links to these resources can be easily established. They can also simply be accessed and viewed directly from the webpage, as there is no log in or registration required.

VS Sassoon is a nice example of eLearning as a commercial solution for hairdressers/learners who want to know how they can improve their skills.

Click on the “Hair styling wizard” icon, underneath the VS Sassoon logo or the text in the menu.
A wizard opens which users can work through, selecting appropriate elements
When complete a video is provided with instructions and proposed tools to achieve the style require style
