O2 eco-rating

August 27, 2010

O2 is to provide environmental information for its handsets, allowing customers to choose a phone based on its energy saving features.

Eco ratings have been issued for 65 handsets on O2's online store since August 25th and in-store from August 27th.

O2's Phones will be given a score out of five for energy efficiency and environmental impact.

At the time of writing this, top place is held by Sony Ericsson's Elm handset, achieving a score of 4.3.

The Telepresence Revolution

June 20, 2010

New technology could help businesses cut down on their carbon footprint by avoiding unnecessary travel.

This is the view of a study commissioned by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), which highlighted the possibilities of Telepresence. The system allows meetings to be held virtually by using video conferencing and other communication technologies.

According to the report, Telepresence could allow UK and US businesses to cut upto 5.5 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions by 2020.
