Facebook Publishes Guide to Social Marketing Best Practices

The following resource is a starting point for Learning Providers who are considering using Facebook. Although aimed at businesses, the document's "five guiding principles" are a good framework to follow for just about any social media effort: What am I on about? Well Facebook recently published a PDF document giving businesses a guide to best practices for marketing on the massive social networking site.

The 14-page document, titled "Best Practice Guide: Marketing on Facebook" serves as an official resource on how to take advantage of Facebook's advertising products, social plugins, analytics and other tools to grow one's business.

Ofsted's Good Practice Website

Ofsted's relatively new "Good Practice" website is for those working in sectors who are inspected and regulated by them.

The "Good Practice" website shares, as you would expect, good practice and supporting resources, allowing visitors to download information and watch video clips to support their own work.

Google Maps Adds A Fuel Cost Calculator

Google Maps has added a fuel cost calculator to driving directions on Google Maps in Europe.

Currently the estimated fuel costs only appears in driving directions in Europe and not in the USA, Canada nor Australia.

The fuel cost estimation appears at the bottom of the driving directions in the map sidebar. If you click on the displayed estimation, a calculator opens like this...

Justifying technology investment in tough economic times

How can expenditure on new technology be justified in the current financial climate?

It can if it provides a rapid return on investment and helps further education institutions to reach their goals more efficiently.

Doing even more with less whilst improving standards in education is putting senior management teams in the UK's FE Colleges to the test this year.
