VYEW

Posted by John Dalziel on Thursday, August 25, 2011, In : Collaboration

Vyew allows Learning Providers to meet and share content in real-time or anytime.
Upload images, files, documents and videos into a room; users can access and contribute at anytime.

I found it easy to set up and use – the FREE version – unlimited use with up to 10 people. The catch? It's advert supported - I didn't find the adverts intrusive.

Conferencing features:– whiteboarding, video conferencing, screen sharing, Voice-over-IP. Collaboration features. The continuous rooms are saved and...

VSee: an alternative to Skype

Posted by John Dalziel on Saturday, June 11, 2011, In : Video Conferencing
Image of VSee logo

VSee is free for personal use so learners can collaborate without having to buy a subscription. I'm unsure how pricing would work for a learning provider-wide deployment, but VSee does mention options for non-profit use in their FAQ section.

VSee is an alternative to Skype, which many learning providers block, for hosting a video conference and sharing desktops with others. Just as with Skype, users can hold multiple party calls and share their screen with others.

Posted by John Dalziel on Friday, July 16, 2010, In : Sharing

Would you like to collaborate and share Office documents, PowerPoint presentations, and more with your learners and colleagues?

Well I'm using the new Office Web Apps with my Facebook friends via http://Docs.com.

I included the new Office Web Apps on SkyDrive in a recent blog, and was excited over the features it had but wished it could do more. One major problem, with the Office Web Apps is that few learners and/or colleagues use Windows Live SkyDrive on a daily basis. This means that...

Bounce

Posted by John Dalziel on Sunday, June 27, 2010, In : Screencast

Bounce could be an excellent tool for...

  • sharing comments about the design elements of websites;
  • highlighting graphics on a website; or
  • sharing comments about articles with learners and/or colleagues.

Bounce not only allows users to make annotated screen captures of websites but also allows them to instantly share those screen captures with others.

To use Bounce...

  • type in the url of any website;
  • click "Bounce"
    Bounce creates an image of that website on which users can...
    • draw ...
