QRals.com - Online QR Code Generator App

Posted by John Dalziel on Friday, August 26, 2011, In : QR codes

Creating QR codes is not difficult, especially if practitioners/learners/stakeholders are using an application like QRals.

QRals is a new (and free) web tool
allowing practitioners, learners and other stakeholders (with minimal technical skills) to have as many QR codes generated and used as they could possibly need.

Users are able to enter different content including text, links, email address, MeCards, Bizcards, SMS etc. They can also select the colours to be used, and the actual size of the...

Scanapalooza

Posted by John Dalziel on Thursday, August 25, 2011, In : QR codes
Thinking about using QR Codes in education, in classrooms, in inductions, in libraries, in presentations, etc?

Learning providers may have a long uphill struggle ahead with some stakeholders and their understanding of what can be done with them.

QR Codes that link to...
•    a series of online resources,
•    a presentation,
•    notes, etc
•    as well as contact details.

Lab42's QR codes infographic, looks at how we're using them, and why they're scanned (or not).

Link directly to quotes in Web pages

Image of Citebite logo

Many practitioners, and learners, would love to be able to direct others to specific sections on a website. Citebite provides a possible solution to do just that.

I say possible because it appears to depend upon the website you are trying to link to. When it does work it is excellent.

Visit http://citebite.com/ where users can manually create a citebite or add a bookmarklet to your browser of, if you use Firefox, add an extension.

nooCard

Posted by John Dalziel on Saturday, March 5, 2011, In : mobile

nooCard is quite possibly the easiest mobile webpage users can create.

Simply...

  • sign up;
  • create; and
  • publish the resulting nooCard url publicly on the internet.

Anyone with a mobile browser will be able to instantly see the nooCard. There is nothing to install.

Visit http://www.noocard.com/.

My nooCard is available at http://noocard.com/u/acljohn/.

PostPost

Posted by John Dalziel on Friday, February 4, 2011, In : Social Networking

Many Learners, Employers, and Learning Providers use social media. Each time they log into Facebook, they see a clutter of links, videos, and photographs their "friends" have either posted or liked.

The given filters from Facebook do not satisfy all its users. For a better and cleaner filtering interface Facebook users should pay a visit to PostPost.

PostPost is their personal social newspaper. It compiles all the links, videos and pictures your friends post on Facebook into a real-ti...

Annotated Links

Posted by John Dalziel on Friday, December 10, 2010, In : Sharing

Annotated Links lets users enter links (URLs), one per line, and a sticky note with instructions, questions, annotations etc.

Clicking the Submit button creates a URL that can then be posted via social networks, email, VLEs etc.

Again this has a lot of potential within teaching and learning.

Try it out at http://linkstore.ru/al/.

Hollur

Posted by John Dalziel on Friday, October 15, 2010, In : Audio

Hollur...

  • provides users with a different take on microsharing;
  • lets people socialize around short audio clips, "bits", that are uploaded and categorized for users to find people who have similar interests; they can't be longer than 20 seconds; the same as the 140 characters when tweeting.
Users need to be either incredibly witty or telegraphic in order to get a message across in this environment, but that is obviously the main hook of the site, in the same way that making complex emo...

fur.ly

Posted by John Dalziel on Friday, July 2, 2010, In : Short-URLs

Fur.ly is a really useful URL shortener that combines multiple URL's into a single link.

Here's how it works...

  • Users can add links one after other;
  • As they are added a new text box, to add further URLs, is added automatically;
  • Once users click "Go", Fur.ly combines all of them into one link;
  • That link can be shared with colleagues or learners or other individuals/groups; and
  • When they click on that link, it opens the first webpage with a horizontal orange-colored bar on the top that lets ...
