The Whiteboard Blog

Posted by John Dalziel on Sunday, March 6, 2011, In : IWB

The Whiteboard Blog is produced by Danny Nicholson, a freelance educational consultant and PGCE science lecturer.

He informs us that his main speciality is the use of Interactive Whiteboards, but is also interested in lots of different bits of technology that are now being used in the learning environment.

Interactive whiteboards (IWBs) are popular with learning providers because they're a big symbol of technology. Unfortunately, they're often installed without providing a budget to...

Posted by John Dalziel on Saturday, January 22, 2011, In : Skype

VoIP-Sol.com, based in the UK, is an independent blog covering the VoIP market, web 2.0 and related technologies.

The main focus of the blog is to provide impartial reviews on phones and services as well as offering insightful comparisons.

Two posts are worth a closer look, especially those learning providers who are using, or considering using, Skype for improved communication and/or remote observations /assessments/job knowledge interviews/etc.

Every Teacher's Must-Have Guide To Facebook

Posted by John Dalziel on Thursday, January 13, 2011, In : Safeguarding

In their words...

"You can't swing a stick in social media without hitting something on Facebook. Same goes for education. You can't talk about how technology is revolutionizing education without mentioning Facebook. It's a simple service to figure out but what about once you become a regular user?"

This blog post includes...

  • Bernadette Rego's Facebook setup guide with a teacher-centric focus; hosted on Scribd;
  • A YouTube Clip on "How to (Not) Suck @ Facebook;
  • Some DON'T...

Posted by John Dalziel on Tuesday, September 7, 2010, In : Online Communication

With the current financial climate, a number of local authorities and learning providers we support are looking closely at video conferencing options; this blog, brought to my attention by my colleague John Davey, looks at the humorous but, in many cases, real experiences.

Visit http://onlignment.com/2010/09/conference-call-woes/ to see what I mean

Convert Articles Into Videos

Posted by John Dalziel on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, In : Authoring

One of the things I do whenever I write an eMagazine article is to include it in a blog article (http://acljohn.posterous.com/) and in an audio version of the blog (http://drop.io/wdlihblog); I also add it to the appropriate blog here in my blog portal. By doing this I feel I'm offering choice to 'my readers' as, I'm sure you will agree, "one size doesn't suit all"!.

I also promote the choices through Twitter and Facebook, using Ping.

During my usual research for new and emerging technolo...

About Me

John Dalziel
Liverpool

John Dalziel I'm an eLearning Adviser specializing in stimulating and supporting innovation in learning via eBooks, eMagazines, blogs (including audio versions), online TV, interactive resources, forums, workshops, conferences and face2face consultations. Evaluating and becoming familiar with sustainable and new technologies allows me to respond to the needs of learning providers from a position of experience rather than 'hearsay'. Supported learning providers, in the northwest of England (UK), can contact me for FREE consultations. Based at Lancaster University I work for the JISC Regional Support Centre - Northwest.
