The Art Project powered by Google features interior tours of seventeen world famous art museums.

By selecting a museum from the list on the homepage users can...

virtually tour it using the same interface found on Google Maps Streetview;
create their own artwork collection while visiting each museum.

When inside the museum users can...

double click to zoom to a location;
open a floor plan overview and click on a room to navigate to that part of the museum;

While touring a museum clicking on the "+" symbol on any work of art allows users to...

see it in greater detail;
access background information about that work of art; and
add it to their collection.
Note: To create a collection users must be signed into their Google account.

Explore and Learn was developed as the educational part of New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, and has an ever changing and large source of materials.

A lot of what is available, on this website, draws inspiration from the particular exhibitions currently featured. New materials get added often and full educational materials are created to support practitioners who are able to visit the museum.

Draw.to is a web application that allows users to create & share "disposable drawings" (doodles) quickly without the hassle of starting up external programs, saving & uploading files, etc.

is intended for drawings done ''in the moment'' e.g. during an online conversation, either for fun or to help communicate when words aren't enough;
is free; no signup required;
supports all major browsers and sharing methods (Twitter, Facebook, reddit, FriendFeed, Delicious, StumbleUpon, Buzz, email, chat/IM/IRC and anywhere you can paste a link); and
supports iPhone/iPad/iPod touch.

Draw whatever you want! Some ideas to get you started, from the developers, include...

The Art Zone

If you haven't done so yet, take a look at the National Gallery of Art (Washington, USA) interactive online Art Zone you should take some time to do so!

There are currently sixteen applications that allow learners to create beautiful artwork that can then be printed or even animated!

Note: Adobe Shockwave Player is needed to use these applications.

I recommend that if you can, take the time to investigate the creative options for each application (I've spent more time than perhaps I should have done already!). For example in the Faces and Places application, once the items in your painting have been added, they can be arranged within the portrait by click-n-drag.

FlockDraw is a simple but elegant collaborative sketching website which lets users...

collaborate on freehand sketches and diagrams.

The simplicity of the tool makes it worth using. Just click 'start drawing' and users are presented with a whiteboard which has a url that can be easily shared (no sign up required).

On the right hand side of the board are drawing tools. There aren’t any complex tools. Just the ones that help you make a basic drawing – brush, text, line etc.

Note: the site plans to introduce embed and save the drawings as images features soon.
